Current Music: Florent Schmitt - Dyonisiaques
I need to do something to my room and quick.
In a really big mess now.

The "Now we wait" from the previous post comes from the latest Heineken advert on TV.

Bugis BK for Caesar's Salad again, a walk to Suntec City, bump into band people, WASBE Exhibition (mostly of instruments)....
and discovered the saxophone quartet made up of George, Calvin, Shaowei and [info]bchoi there. They were at a publisher's booth I think...trying to sight read a saxophone ensemble score...and kena talked into playing with them...took the baritone saxophone from [info]bchoi...my part so simple..all crotchet only.... I think it was an arrangement of some Adagio by J.S. Bach...

Then it was the Esplanade...library. Decided to zap the clarinet part for Weber's Grand Duo Concertant. But don't think I'll be touching the clarinet till about two weeks from now...

And then it was...the Kosei concert...
every band-it in Singapore must have been there... saw Tsan again, said hi, wished him safe return home to Hong Kong. Almost wherever I went..my head turned... there was someone I already knew from somewhere. Still outside, said hi to Dr (Kelly) Tang.

No different on the inside of the hall.
We were sitting next to the aisle though.
And I kinda forgot the guest of honour and his entourage would be walking just past us...

The concert itself.
I figured everybody would be writing good reviews of it on their blogs or something...so maybe I'll write something negative instead.

*blank*
I can't think of anything negative!
It was just like listening to a CD recording...again! (the other time being in 2002 I think, when they were around for 2 concerts). Well there might have been a few wrong entries or mispitches here and there (ohh...the timpani in a movement of Lincolnshire Posy) but heck. They ARE the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra.

And that had to be the FASTEST version of Dyonisiaques by Florent Schmitt that I have ever come across...what a finale! I think I was literally jumping in my seat as they SPED through the entire work flawlessly. The conductor Douglas Bostock was really pushing these guys very hard...and they delivered.

Three encores.... Molly on the Shore!! My Homeland...and .. the Dam Busters!

I am STILL reeling from that experience.
CJ you didn't miss much hor.... kekeke....

Knowing that if I stayed around the venue long enough after the concert I would be drawn into a "band" outing with godknowswhointhebandscene... I zipped all the way back to the MRT and headed to Holland Village, in great anticipation to meet up with three...ermm.. two other guys whom I've not seen for quite a while..my old IRC buddies. Edward (of Army Daze fame! haha) was back in SG for summer holidays, and Nick has literally disappeared... then again as I learnt later he doesn't go to Cali Orchard on weekdays so I don't see him there.

I think the four of us yakked and yakked and yakked till..ermm.. 1 am at Coffee Bean. That was our usual hangout, but that was...like...7...8 years ago?!?!!??
We were talking about so many "auntie" things....hahahahahaah.
Getting old man.

Poor Nick had his car locked in the shopping centre car park. I think he can only claim it today...

Tried to update this last night...but actually fell asleep!

hmmm...
this is what you can do
wait.
in the meanwhile...save up lots of money.
Go to Tokyo for a holiday.
And make sure you catch a Kosei concert there (must buy tics way in advance).

Because usually when TKWO goes overseas....they tend to send the... "freelancers"...so it isn't exactly the original TKWO...

at least for last Sat's concert..the main players are there... the saxophonist Sugawa, the piccolo guy with the white hair, the 1st clarinetist with the hair looking like a wig... tohru miura on euphonium... ayako maeda on flute (wwoooooo I had masterclass with her before!)...bla bla ..
